Joel did great last night. His vitals have remained stable. He has a lot of swelling in his face and head which they say is normal. Today and tomorrow are supposed to be the most intense days for that and then it's supposed to subside. He is still on the ventilator and will remain that way at least for the next several days. I am anxious for the day that it comes out so I can actually talk to him and know of his progress. He does respond to commands on his right side. He will squeeze our hand and do other signs. Although he looks like he is just sleeping there is a lot going on in that head of his. Last night the nurses gave him a pad and asked him if there was anything that he wanted to write. The romantic ending to the story would be that he writes I love you to all of us and we rejoice and feel so happy. But no-he did not write that. Here is a picture of what he wrote. When she showed me the pad I started to laugh hysterically. If you know my husband well this will make you laugh too. There is nothing more perfect-more Joel-that he could have written. No sentimental messages of love. Not Joel. No, he just wants us all to know....that he wants his IPad.
