ICU-Day 7

Joel is responding really well to the hypothermia therapy. All of his vitals are completely normal and remaining stable. His pupils look great and when they pull him out of the induced coma for vitals checks he is responding, which is a great sign. Visually I can tell that the swelling in his head is going down and that is what we want. Here's another amazing thing-Joel only has one kidney so throughout all of this they have been closely monitoring his kidney function because they didn't want to send him into kidney failure. They told me today that for reasons unbeknownst to them, his kidney function just keeps getting better and better on its own. They said they have no idea why this is-but we do-God's hand is upon Joel watching over every part of him.Since everything is going so well with this current line of treatment they may end up extending the treatment past the original 3 day mark that they had planned for. They have told us to expect for him to go maybe even up to a week on this therapy. It cannot hurt him, only help him, and since they see such positive responsive signs they are thinking they might stay the course a little longer. Please keep those prayers coming. They are working. You have no idea the power that is in your prayers and your belief for his healing. Thank you.
