Today was our first day at MD. Just pulling up to the front of the hospital was quite an emotional experience. There was patient after patient out front in wheelchairs, patients with surgical masks on in order to not be exposed to germs, & of course many many bald & frail patients. Up until now we really haven't been to a place where we are so completely surrounded by other patients who's sole focus was also fighting off this terrible disease. We know how hard of a battle it has been for us & yet here we are with people who have had just as difficult a battle as we have. We know all too well how each of them feel. It makes you want to reach out & embrace each person. I took a prayer blanket with me today that our friends Ben & Lindsay gave us. The blanket was made & prayed over by the pastors & little old ladies of their church. On it has this inscription: "The light of God surrounds you. The love of God enfolds you. The power of God protects you. The presence of God watches over you. Where you are God is."
Love it! I plan on taking this blanket with me to every appointment just as a physical reminder that we are not alone. That God is with us every step of the way.
As far as the appointment-they gave us a lot of heavy information & details about what lies ahead of us. I won't get into all of that yet because we have a lot of things to digest & to figure out about what is next for us. Please be praying for an extreme amount of wisdom for us on how to proceed & figure out what is best. We do know it will be at least a full year of chemo.
Today they did lab work & a chest X-ray. The next tests will begin on Monday. He will have a PET scan a CT scan & a test on his heart. Our biggest need of prayer is no spreading but specifically no spreading to the bones. The Drs job is to tell you all the scary things & they did. Our responsibility is to listen but to also meet that with a double amount of faith in our Gods ability to do amazing things despite what they tell us.
We are taking this weekend to relax & get ready for all the tests next week will hold. His CT scan will be at 6:30am on Monday. I will blog again then. We won't have test results until later in the week.
Thank you for your prayers-we need a lot of them. We love ya!
