Don't talk-be

Today I was driving home from the grocery store & was behind 2 motorcyclists. As they made their way down the road another motorcyclist came the opposite way. They acknowledged one another with a wave & a smile. I have seen this exchange many times between motorcyclists on the road & always thought it was really cool. It's like a little code. If you are on a bike-you must be as cool as they are. It makes me think about this in relation to Christianity. Wouldn't it be incredible if we had this unspoken camaraderie between us. A smile, a wink & an understanding of a shared passion. Instead we spend most of our time squabbling amongst ourselves about who is "right" in their belief systems. We spend too much time talking about the church & not "being" the church. Yesterday we got a card in the mail from a friend, who has definitely "been the church" to us in many ways. She sent me this scripture which is so powerful & is now posted on the front of our Fridge. And for those of you who know me that's a big deal because I do not like ANYTHING on the front of my fridge-ha ha. Here's the verse (love you Traci):

"May God Himself, the God who makes everything holy & whole, put you together-spirit, soul & body-& keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. The One who called you is completely dependable. If He said it, He'll do it!"

-1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (The Message)

LOVE this verse.

Also, a big thanks to Ray & Andrea for bringing us lunch & hanging out with us this afternoon! With Joel on house-arrest it has been tough to spend Memorial weekend at home. But all of our friends stopping by has made the time go by quickly. Also, thanks to my Mom for cooking for us!

You asked for it-& you will get it. Tomorrow: Joel will blog for you!!!!!

Hope you all are having an amazing holiday.

Love,

Sarah & Joel
