Once a year, for my birthday, I try to go to a spa to for a facial. I know, I know, they recommend getting them more often, but who has time (or funds!) for that?
I just celebrated my 35th birthday. I have to admit, this 34th year of life was the first year I've started to notice a few small, fine lines on my face. As much as I am one who likes the concept of aging gracefully, I also am not against delaying the inevitable just a tad!
I spoke with the facial technician about my concerns and she gently told me I've "reached the age" where it's time to do a little more for my skin. Ouch. She's right, but ouch.
One of the biggest things she suggested was starting to exfoliate 2-3 times a week. She talk to me about how our skin is constantly regenerating and if we don't slough off the dead stuff it tends to settle into our fine lines, making them appear even worse. She did an exfoliating treatment on me when I was there and wow, it made such a difference. For at home use she recommended using a face brush several times a week.
If you look online there are many options for face brushes. You can use the brush for every day use with your face wash, but I prefer just to use it a few times a week for exfoliation. There are many exfoliating scrubs out there so just pick the one that feels right for you.
The Clarisonic brush is the most well known. At $99 its also the most expensive I found. While it does have high ratings I wasn't ready to shell out that kind of money for a brush.
The other option I found on Amazon is the Lavo brush. This is the option I went with. At $25 it is a far less expensive alternative. I love how soft the bristles feel against my skin. It's not too harsh at all. After I'm done I slap on a moisturizer and my face feels unbelievably soft. I've also already seen a reduction in those stingy fine lines. Win.
This brush is definitely one of my favorite new beauty finds. There are many options to choose from when it comes to face brushes. You can find a good selection online at Amazon or retail locations like Ulta and Sephora.
