Switching gears today! The last few weeks the L.O.V.E. series has gone green. While green products I L.O.V.E. will always be thrown in the mix, today I want to shake things up and talk cooking.
Cooking is not something that came naturally to me. My husband adored cooking and was the main cook of our home. After his death I had to take over this task. It was the most overwhelming thing in the world! I had no idea what I was doing.
Slowly but surely I've worked on my skills and now I'm totally comfortable in the kitchen. I wouldn't say I love the process of cooking, but I do love the final product and being able to cook a yummy meal for those I love.
Something I'm always looking for in the kitchen are products that make my life easier and that's what I will be touching on today.
How many of you love garlic? If you're like me it's in practically every recipe you make. At first garlic was a little perplexing to me. It took forever to peel. Then when I would chop it and add it to my dish it would burn easily.
I have found two new products that have made cooking garlic a breeze.
#1 A Garlic Roller. I just got one of these 2 weeks ago. It's a little plastic tube that you throw your garlic into and roll it around for a few seconds. Then you turn the roller over and out pops your garlic, completely peeled. No using a knife to cut it off and no stinky garlic hands. Genius. It is almost too simple to be true but it's amazing.
#2 A Garlic Press. I've been using one of these babies for awhile and I love it. All I do now is roll my garlic then throw it into this press and squeeze. The garlic comes out fragrant and is perfectly squished, pressed, ready to go. I don't have to cut or mince anything with this press. I feel like it cooks evenly and way more quickly when prepared this way.
I found my garlic roller at a nearby cooking store but you can also find it on Amazon for around $8. The garlic press I also found on Amazon also for $8. I used to have one from Pampered Chef which sadly I lost. The one I purchased from Amazon I actually ended up liking a little better because of its sturdiness.
So there you go! If you cook often with garlic hopefully I just made your world a little easier.
