I L.O.V.E. Clean

Last week I answered a Q&A post listing all the reasons we try to live as Non-Toxic a lifestyle as possible. (If you missed that blog click HERE to catch up!)

I thought I would spend the next few  "Things I L.O.V.E. " blogs sharing some of my favorite Non-Toxic products with you.

I'll start with where it all began for me, cleaning products.

I like to use a variety of products and also natural cleaning agents. For example, water and vinegar are all you need to get your mirrors shinning beautifully. Use old newspapers to wipe them down and you're good to go. I also like to use water mixed with lemon essential oils. Lemon is a natural disinfectant and works wonders as a cleaning agent. (Don't worry, I'll share my L.O.V.E. for Essential Oils in another post soon!)

As far as cleaning products I buy from the store, my favorite brands are Seventh Generation and ECover. They're both trusted names and seem to be the most main-stream "Green" brands easily found at all the big-box stores. Another brand I like is called Bon Ami. This has replaced our "Comet" product we used to use, and is just as effective.

For disinfecting, if I'm not using oils, I'll use the Seventh Generation Wipes. I typically will wipe down all the surfaces in my kitchen with them as well.

For dusting, I don't use polish. Just an old-fashioned feather duster will do the trick. To clean my floors I have one of the Shark brand steamers. That way I'm simply using water and heat to get ride of the grime. Nothing more is really necessary.

I've often said, one of the easiest ways to move towards Non-Toxic living is to start with cleaning supplies because those are products we all use several times a week. Once you realize you can keep your home clean, without the use of all the nasty chemicals, it can empower you to go even farther.

In the next few weeks I will venture deeper into this subject, with posts on Essential Oils, Make-Up and Body products.

Check back next week for more!
